The monthly journal SEKAI (The World) started in 1946, and has consistently played a role at the forefront of debate in postwar Japan by presenting articles and news analyses with a view to engaging in democratization and peace-building, at home and abroad.

ICUPRI, The International Christian University Peace Research Institute, was founded in 1991. Rooted in the reflections on the causes of World War II, its principal aim is to search for conditions for a humane and non-violent world. Research projects by its members, all of whom are university faculty members, include humanitarian intervention, international criminal tribunals, reconstruction of devastated developing countries, sustainable development.
